Citytrip De Koog, Texel,
Netherlands, June 2021

Day 1
Tuesday, June 8th

Our citytrip starts with a drive to Den Helder to catch a ferry ride to Texel. According to the timetable on the website of the TESO ferry service they sale every whole hour. Having booked passage for the car on the above mentioned website a few days before, we queue up at the port and wait for the ferry to arrive.

The ferry ride to the island takes about twenty minutes, during which we remain seated in the car. Having reached the ferry port of Texel, disembarking only takes a minute. The main road leading away from the ferry station is appropriately named De Pontweg (Ferryroad). It leads directly to De Koog where we booked our B&B.

Having arrived in De Koop we locate the address and meet with the owner of the B&B. Fortunately we can park our car in front of the house. If you park the car on a public parking space you need to buy a parking sticker or risk a parking fine.

We are welcomed and shown our room. Actually these are three rooms to our surprise. A living room with a small kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom. This is more than we expected.

Having unpacked our luggage, first thing we do is rent a bike for the next couple of days. We learned that a bike rental company is right around the corner. Here you can rent ordinary bikes, e-bikes, e-scooters and more! For the time being we park the bikes at the B&B and stroll through town and to the beach.
