Citytrip Warsaw, Poland
April 2019

April 11th, 2019

Poland was established as a state under the Piast dynasty, which ruled the country between the 10th and 14th century. The word "Poland" was written officially for the first time in 966, when Mieszko I converted to Christianity. In 1025 the Kingdom of Poland was founded.

At the end of World War II, in 1947, the Polish People′s Republic was established as a satellite state under Soviet influence. It was in 1989 that Poland ceased being a communist country and became a liberal democracy.

Warsaw Chopin Airport (Lotnisko Chopina) is located within a distance of 8 kilometers from the city centre of Warsaw. The airport can be reached by a few lines of the municipal public transport organized by Zarzad Transportu Miejskiego. Thanks to Warsaw′s hosting of the Euro 2012 football championships, getting to and from the airport is now easy due to new train lines and bus routes. The fastest option is a train that runs every 20-30 minutes.
