Day 4
Thursday, September 29th

Today is our last day in Lisbon. We spend it buying some clothes for our son who studies at the Lisbon University. First stop is the Colombo Shopping Mall, a three-tiered huge shopping centre.

We have been here before and this Mall has something of everything, from everyday things to designer stuff. This Mall has its own metro station, right underneath it. Centro Colombo Mall is the second largest shopping centre in Lisbon and once boasted of being the largest in Europe.

Our flight leaves at around seven in the evening. Needing to be at the airport hours in advance is not an enjoyable thing at all. Especially in the departures lounge of the Lisbon airport. An awful lot of people are walking around trying to get hold of a seat, off which there are not enough to go around.

A lot of them are just sitting on the floor waiting on their flight to be announced so they can board. Another minus is the fact that they are renovating the airport. Some areas in the tax-free zone are closed for the public with large wooden screens.

When they announce flights, the passengers are being guided through what looks like a makeshift maze from boards and post connected with ropes, leading them to the outside flight deck where the planes are parked.

Then, at last, the flight for Amsterdam is being announced! This proves to be the most exciting part of the evening, because something is finally happening, and finally everyone will be seated.

We are on our way to Amsterdam, where we have a cab waiting to take us home.

and welcome!
