New York - 2011

In September 2011 we made a seven day city trip to the United States of America. Our first intercontinental flight and longest flight so far with a flight time of approximately seven and a half hours. We leave on September 20, returning to the Netherlands on September 27. Due to the fact that you fly East, you loose a day, effectively you spend six days in the United States.

Day 1
Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Arrived at JFK we go through customs, which takes a while due to all of the security, after which we pick up our luggage. Once outside we line up for a taxi that will bring us to central Manhattan where be booked a hotel. During our wait at the customs.....

Day 2

Today we take part in a guided tour around Manhattan; the Manhattan Comprehensive city tour. For this we have to report at the office of Grey Line which is located just around the corner on Eight Avenue. There are quite a number of people waiting already.....

Day 3

A new day has arrived and the appetite to go with it. I get dressed and leave the hotel into Forty Seventh Street. On the corner with Broadway there is a Starbucks Coffee shop. Next to coffee they also have breakfast packages in blister wrapping....

Day 4

After having finished a nice Starbucks breakfast we walk east on Forty Seventh Street to the crossing with Fifth Avenue. We need to buy a vest for my daughter at the store of Abercrombie and Fitch. As we north on Fifth Avenue and approach the corner....

Day 5

Weeks before we left home we had booked and printed off some free admission tickets for the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. We came across some add on the internet that made us aware that Saturday 24th of September is the national Museum day in the.....

Day 6

Starbucks breakfast is a good breakfast; sweet and\or savoury alike, you will find something to your liking there. We will be back to normal as of tomorrow. Today is our last day in the Big Apple. We fly back to the Netherlands in the afternoon.....
