Modern Hotel Jardines del Turia

June 2017

The Modern Hotel Jardines del Turis derives it's name from the nearby park; Jardines del Turia. When we arrived we were welcomed by a friendly young lady. We went through the formalities after which she pointed out on a map the interesting places to visit and handed us the map, the restaurants to eat at, shopping streets and various other things. She really took her time to point all these things out to us. Then she handed us the key, brought us to our room on the first floor, and showed us around the room and bathroom.

The room is not that large, but it was clean and tidy and that is the more important thing. The room is one of only a few rooms that actually have a small balcony. It is located in between a couple of the buildings that tower over us, but at least you can sit outside. I am satisfied!

This hotel only has sleeping arrangements and does not have a dining room or a kitchen. Breakfast is outsourced with a bakery nearby; TenDetes. We were handed breakfast vouchers for the next couple of days. On these you mark what type of roll you would like to eat, which warm drink you like and which fruit juice you want. It is a small breakfast Valencia style. The bakery is the second street to the right with the green chairs.

The location is near the Jardines del Turia, the former riverbed of the Turia river. The old river has been redirected and it's former bed has been converted in a lush garden. Absolutely great for relaxing walks in the cool evening air.

Below the hotel on ground level, there is an Italian restaurant; Nostrano. After our evening strolls through the park we had a drink here.

The metro system consists of four lines that are typical underground Metro railways. These are Lines 1 (yellow), 3 (red) and 5 (green). Line 4 (blue) however is an on-street, rail system operating North of the Turia riverbed. It brings you all the way down to the beach zone.

The city is divided into four zones, A, B, C and D, with A being the zone surrounding the actual city center. The Valencia metro fares therefore vary, depending on the number of zones you travel through.

The metro brings us to Xativa Metro station where we get out and go to street level. Here we have to change to the bus. Facing the train station Estaciò del Nord, there is a bus stop of line 40 (or line 19) that we can take. That will bring us close to the East side of the city where the hotel is (bus stop: Carrer de Ciscar). From there it is only a five minute walk to the hotel that is located next to the Jardines del Turia city gardens.

and welcome!
